ART108 Painting is a 1CU with the Creative Practice course designation.
1CU studio courses are organized around creative skills building. To do this well, we must privilege time working in the studio. 1CU courses are more limited with time, so we will use all of our time in practice. Students in this course will engage in all their learning in the studio. There will be some presentations and discussion of paintings, but it will not be associated with any homework. As all of the time allocated for this course will be spent in the studio, there is no formal homework.
However, I must stress that there is a great deal of rigor expected from students. This course is as demanding as any other course you are taking and similarly, demands your time, energy, and focus. The expectations of this course are articulated on the Rubric page of this site.
When learning an art discipline, practice really does make all the difference. While I cannot ask you to do homework, you are free to use the studio at any time that there is no class running. If you have the time to practice painting between our class sessions, you will notice your ability and confidence increase greatly, and you will be happier with your paintings.
